The white voice is a manuscript-performance which engages the white masculine person in enacting statements said by the white voice. The performance script includes themes of gas-lighting, micro-aggressions, patriarchy, racism, nationalism, representation, blind-spots, vulnerability and more.
During spring 2021 I facilitated one-to-one performative readings of this text and subsequent dialogic reflection about white masculinity based on the reading with 11 white men. The script was performed without an audience, in order to urge the white man himself to reflect critically on de-centering the white voice by “othering” it to himself.
