Due to the COVID-19 lock-down, the world got noticeably quieter with less traffic and less people on the streets. Many took notice of this and I wondered how the collective heightened attentiveness to silence, and thus to the delicate sounding environments, would be remembered in the post-corona-world. During the summer of 2020, I took my microphones out for a listen.
Since international holiday travel is not an option this year, another option is to go to the other way; back to the roots. Hometown. Most Danes had their childhood in small towns around the country, and we all have different memories from there. In July I went around listening to some places where I have memories from. The soccer field, the street where a friend used to live, the school yard… For me, it wasn’t so much about reminiscing as it was about wondering how similar or different our hometowns sound. – from my notebook.
