Listening is fundamental. It is in listening to ourselves and each other that we develop the relationships that we desire. But with listening comes sounding! Against the failures of nation states to listen meaningfully and react with accountability to climate crisis and human rights violations, the time is now not only for listening but for sounding!
We must sound in support of local and global efforts for justice and care; for human rights, animal rights, nature rights. We must sound in solidarity with efforts against authoritarian control; including efforts against the global economic oligarchy who can afford to unlisten, at the detriment of life and liveability.
The Sound Party is an acoustic-political movement. We seek to advocate for sound, listening and the acoustic well-being of human and more-than-human. We seek to support acoustic justice initiatives at the intersection of artistic practice, research and politics.
Central to our work are questions such as; how do we sound against systems of oppression? Which sounds and voices should be echoed? How do we promote diverse acoustic ecologies? How can we support the sounds of the most vulnerable?
